The issues against gay marriages are blown way out of proportion. If one believes that everyone is created equal and should not be discriminated upon, then why is it that people who have a different sexual orientation are not accepted and allowed to live the life they choose and be happy. We see stories about the people trying to shoot down the California law that is going to allow same sex marriages. Wouldn’t it be wiser to concentrate on something that is more important such as stopping the war and the lost of life.
I recently ran into a discussion at a local tavern a few months ago at a girls brat fry for a softball team. The man who made this comment to me of all people did not know my daughter or the teams sexual preference I suspect. This man whom I have known from my bartending days said “I am here to support the team because they are so good at softball and none of them are dikes.”
I turned around and looked at the team and realized how stupid the guy was because my daughter is gay, a teammate is gay and the other teammates are heterosexual. The gay population in the bar was equal to the heterosexual population. The guy was clueless that he was mingling with gays.
It is this way of thinking that finds most people on the end of stupidity. I did not know whether to laugh at him and tell him the truth or let him go on thinking that everyone on the team was heterosexual. I chuckled and walked away. I was amazed at the comment and did not have the heart to tell him how stupid and discriminating he sounded.
It is this way of thinking that raises the issues against gay marriages. Now this man watches porn movies with two girls together and is happy as can be, but he is against gays or dikes as he put it. Most people have double standards when it comes to gay marriages or relationships. It is these people with double standards that present the issues against gay marriages and try to impress upon others their viewpoints.
What is your impression of gay marriages? Do you think that everyone has the right to happiness or do you believe that gay or same sex relationships should be kept secret?

There are now two states that allow same sex marriage and Canada. With New York asking for an alteration to the marriage policy so that gay marriages are recognized, we could see more states finally recognizing and maybe accepting same sex marriages. This is important because marriage is not about gender. It is about love and dedication to each other.
Marriage is something that happens between two people that love and respect each other. You take each other in sickness and in health, for richer or poorer until death do us part. The marriage vows do not say for gender, so why what is all the fuss. Maybe the marriage vows need to be changed. Oh, I forgot, you can prepare your own marriage vows now. This means that things have already changed in the way people marry. It is no longer the traditional vows that are repeated, it is the vows that each other writes to one another. The only traditional part about wedding vows is “I do.”
States that allow same sex marriage are Massachusetts and as of June 17, California. You can go to Canada and get married right now as well. Once you say “I do,” you are legally married. This means that a same sex couple that lives in Wisconsin or Florida are legally married in the eyes of God and the law.
The next step is to get all states to follow David Paterson’s example and realize that once a gay couple is married, you have to accept it and recognize it. This is a big step forward and not backwards to the caveman days. Acceptance is the first step to everything. Marriage is the first step to telling the world you love each other and are off the market.
What do you think about New York recognizing gay marriages? Do you think all states should recognize gay marriages?

The governor of New York, David Paterson has put in motion a alteration to the policy’s about gay marriages. Since you can get married in Spain, Canada, and Massachusetts and as of June 17, California, he said that gay couples need to have their marriages recognized.
A woman being denied health benefits after being legally married to her same sex partner sparked this necessity. This is a step in the right direction for gay couples who want to marry out of state. They will benefit during tax time or if a partner dies. The pension and insurance benefits will be awarded to the living spouse no matter what sex.
This could open the way to legalizing gay marriages in New York down the road. If you are going to recognize the union, they might as well perform the union. This is a huge step forward for gay partners living in New York. Now if other states would realize this and join in, it would be a successful step.
Watch for other states to see the need to revise their policies on marriages and same sex marriages in the future. Since you can go out of state and marry, you have to recognize that union. It will be a violation of the same sex marriage human rights to be denied the same benefits as a heterosexual couple.

There is so much controversy about same sex marriages, but look at the reasons why same sex marriage should be legalized and you decide what the difference is between a heterosexual couple and a same sex couple.
1. Same sex marriage is not going to affect heterosexual couples in any way.
2. Children of a same sex couple need to have a family life that is recognized by everyone.
3. Same sex couples are in love just as much as a heterosexual couple.
4. What they do in their own homes will not be seen by anyone who does not wish to see them together.
5. Same sex marriages will allow partners to have insurance.
6. Same sex marriages will allow the couple to file taxes as a married couple.
7. The divorce rate will more than likely be lower.
8. It will pave the way for laws to enforce hate crimes against gay couples.
9. The gay couple will be able to give more to the community as a family.
10. Gay couples will finally have freedom of choice.

What is the difference between a gay and lesbian couple verses a heterosexual couple? The answer should be nothing. Both couple love each other, raise families together and participate in society. The reality is that heterosexual couples are accepted while gay and lesbian couples are looked down on. The only reason is because of the sexual preference.
People that are opposed to the gay and lesbian couple are those that preach about what the bible says. These same people are the ones that only use the bible when the need suits them. Preaching about what the bible says and doing the opposite is something these people are missing. The bible does not promote hate the bible promotes love. It promotes acceptance for the things that one cannot change and accepting all of Gods children.
Have you noticed a pattern? The people that are using the bible as a way to stop a gay and lesbian couple from marrying are also going against the bible and not accepting all living creatures. They love bears, but bears kill there prey. They love their children even when they are bad. Why is it then that they cannot accept a gay couple being married?
Many gay and lesbian couples have been in committed relationships longer than most heterosexual couples have. This should show these people that it does not matter what your sexual preference is but the love and dedication to each other. There is no difference between a gay and lesbian couple and a heterosexual couple. the only difference is the sex of each partner.

This is a story of a 26-year-old male who is afraid to tell his father and mother that he is gay. He is afraid that he will be shut out and kicked out at the house if they find out that he’s gay. Unfortunately, this happens to many people. They feel that they have to hide their sexuality in order to stay in the good graces of their family. Many however do admit that they are gay and their families reject.
The male that I’m talking about lives it home, works two jobs and pays his parents rent. He’s never had a girlfriend, but he said many male friends. He just does not announce to his parents that these are boyfriends instead of just friends. It’s sad when somebody feels so afraid of losing their families respect that they need to hide their sexuality and preference for the same-sex.
In this case the young man would be better off if he did tell his parents and explain to them why he waited so long to tell them and hope that they will take that into consideration and love him for who he is. Everybody is afraid to tell their family that they are gay at some point in time. It is not something that you just shout out at the dinner table. You need to take your time, explain can talk to your family sold the understudy.
I hope some day this 26-year-old male can finally be honest with his family and I hope that they accept him for who he is. It would be a real shame for somebody to lose touch with their family because they have a different sexual preference than others.

Gay and lesbian adoption has made the news quite a bit lately. Not only adoption, but visitation rights for absent parents. It seems that people think that if you’re gay you cannot be a good parent. So who’s to say that just because your sexual choice is to be with a same-sex partner makes you a bad parent. It is to the point where, if you want to be a parent with your partner, you have to have a woman conceive a baby for you if you’re a male couple and then have her sign it over to you. If you’re a woman in a same sex relationship, you can find different ways to have a baby.
Now, the baby can only be adopted by one parent. So this means that the parent who is not on the adoption papers has no legal rights over that child. But, this parent has been raising this child since it was born, but still has no rights and cannot have visitation if the custodial parent does not want them to have any visitation. Is this fair? No it’s not, but the courts will uphold this way of thinking.
Gay and lesbian adoption has been in the news for many years. It seems that a single male or single woman can adopt a baby, but a same-sex couple is not allowed to adopt a baby as a couple. This makes it even harder to enjoy a same-sex relationship as a family. Just because you’re gay does not make you a bad person. It does not mean you cannot be a good parent.
I know parents of the same sex who are better parents than a heterosexual couple. They are loving, kind, accepting and teach their children to respect others. Then you have heterosexual couples who do not have time for their kids, do not teach them anything and let them run wild. But they are considered the perfect parents as far as the courts are concerned. They are the ones that are given special treatment and allowed to adopt kids and even have kids.
It just doesn’t seem fair, that the courts, social services and adoption agencies do not see gay and lesbian adoption as a way to give a child into loving home.

This weekend is Memorial Day weekend when everyone celebrates our Veterans. They have fought for our country so that we could live with freedom of speech, freedom to choose and freedom to live. Gay and lesbian rights should be a freedom of choice. Our Veterans fought for freedom, so why is there so much disgust against a life choice?
The first thing that gay and lesbian rights should cover is the freedom to be respected and allowed to live life the way they see fit. The wars were fought so that we could have the freedoms that some countries do not have. However, gay and lesbians are not benefiting from this freedom. They are being discriminating against in more ways than one.
They cannot marry their same sex partner unless they travel to Canada. California will be the next state to allow gay marriages, but for how long, no one knows. Now, Canada is not a part of the United States, but they allow gay and lesbian marriages. I am not sure, but they seem to have more freedom than the United States. They do not try to tell people how they have to live.
They allow people to live for who they are and not what people think they should be. Everyone including people who prefer a same sex relationship celebrates Memorial Day. That tells me that they should be able to benefit from the freedom that was fought so hard for. Gay and lesbian rights are just as important as minority rights. I bet that if the gay community labeled themselves as a minority, they would have people joining the cause, including the government.

Is same sex marriage right is a question and answer game for the entire world. Sexual orientation seems to be high on the agenda. Gay and lesbian relationships are not welcome because of their sexual orientation. Now, take a heterosexual couple that enjoys a different sexual orientation. They enjoy having swinger parties where wife swapping is accepted. These people are allowed to marry.
Now, if I am correct, god does not condone wife swapping, but it is a common practice. Therefore, what the bible preaches is not meant for everyone, only those who want to live a same sex relationship. A man that marries and only has sex with his wife for gratification and not to bear children is also not following what the bible says. You are only supposed to have sex to produce children.
Is same sex marriage right? Well it ought to be since everyone else can live their life the way they see fit. Same sex marriages are done for love and not to have sex as most heterosexual marriages are. It used to be that women did not have sex until they were married, so they got married. Did they really love each other? Who knows for sure? Some were sexually active and had to get married. Did they marry for love? Probably not, they had to marry.
Gay couples want to get married for love. They are not getting married because they are pregnant or they have to, they love each other and want to commit to each other. Is gay marriage right? Yes, it is and it should be legal everywhere. Canada has the right idea and now it looks like California same sex marriages will be a reality as well.

Well Maryland denied same sex marriages and now the high court has reversed a judges ruling granting visitation for a same sex partner after a split up. The gay lifestyle and children are being called into the spotlight again. Why is it that a court can say a same sex partner cannot have visitation of a child that they helped in raising. Having children in a same sex relationship means that when there is a split, the child still needs to see the absent parent.
The high court in Maryland should not have reversed a lower court judge. He ordered visitation for the absent parent and that should have been the end of it. Now this story has two points. First, if you are gay and have a child that you are raising together, you stand a chance of losing a connection with that child if the courts interfere. Secondly, even if you are not gay, you could lose a connection with a child you raised with an opposite sex partner.
It means the same thing unless the higher court was bias because it dealt with a gay lifestyle and children. If this is the case, they should be removed from their seats on the high court. Would they do this to a couple that was a man and a woman? Are they really that heartless to make a child suffer because their views about the gay lifestyle and children are bias?
This needs to stop. A child needs both parents active in their lives. This does not have to be a man and a woman, parents are defined, as the ones that raise the child, love the child and provide a loving home and stability for the child. The high court of Maryland should be put on notice about what a parent is and is not.
