Boy Killed Because He Was Gay

I debated long and hard about adding to the misery of the world over this horrible murder. I have watched the video many times trying to feel some sense of reasoning behind this killing. There is none. Who really is to blame for this horrible tragedy? Please take the time to watch the video. It is only 4 minutes long. That is not much time out of your life. This unfortunate young man does not have the time anymore. Please watch for him. Hate crimes against gays has got to stop. It is not only affecting adults, it is affecting our children.

My heart and prayers go out to the family of Larry King. Please tell others about this story. It is important that any parent no matter what their child’s sexual preference is watches and understands how important it is to accept people for who they are and not show hate. If the world would stop throwing hate around, maybe Larry would still be alive and the classmate might have had a life outside of prison.

Larry King was just 15 years old when he was killed for being gay by another classmate. Larry had given the 14-year-old classmate a Valentine card. The classmate felt offended and shot Larry in the head. The only thing Larry did was express himself.

profound blog post that should be read by everyone. There are too many senseless killings in the world, and to kill someone merely for expressing an interest in you is incredibly sad. On the flip side, if a girl gives a valentine to a gay boy should she be shot too?? I mean this boy gave a valentine to a straight boy, Its the same principle. Sad all around.

What a sad story. I so feel for this boy’s family. I don’t understand the mentality of shooting someone who offends you. I would hate to think I raised my kids to think that that was in any way acceptable behavior.

As far kids and gays go, where the adults lead, children follow. As long as our governments support anti-gay behavior by not making laws to protect and encourage gay communities, this kind of bigoted behavior is going to continue. Things are changing in some areas, but it’s not fast enough.

That is the sad thing about all of this, the adults show kids that it is alright to hate gays. Senseless killings because of it.

So, I did tell you I would cry, right??? I love this blog so much for so many reasons and this just added to it. It is so important for people to learn tolerance and to live and LET live. We seem to get further and further away from that. Also, it’s important, as you said, for kids to learn how to deal without feelings in “uncomfortable” situations without being violent!

That’s terrible! It really sends the message that parents are completely responsible for the amount of hate and tolerance children learn.

I ache for this boy’s family.

It’s awful that in such a diverse world people can’t seem to accept difference. We just have to keep educating and getting th emessage out that difference does not mean evil or wrong or broken or whatever negative connotations get circulated. THat’s why this blog is important. As hard as it is, please keep it up. You’re doing a good thing here.

It is sad when people teach this way of thinking. I read something today on a Christain site i was on and was appalled at what they preach. I have a few thoughts about people like this.
