Facts About Same Sex Marriages In California

Many people are applying for marriage licenses in California. Many people from out of state are going to California or even Canada to marry because their home states do not allow same sex marriages. This is great for everyone who wishes to marry the person they love. There are some things you should know about getting married in another state that allows same sex marriages.

If the people that oppose same sex marriages win in the November vote, it is more than likely that marriages preformed before that date would be recognized. This is the talk right now. The certainty of the vote and if the prior marriages will remain legal is still a legality.

Couples that have married in California or in any other state or country that wish to divorce any time in the future would have to go to a state that recognizes same sex marriages. However, these states such as Massachusetts, California and New York do have residency requirements before married couples can petition for a divorce.

If you wish to marry in California, you will need to apply for a marriage license from the county Registrar Recorder. Look at any of the websites for each county online for the application so you can fill it out in advance. Both people who plan to marry must go to the clerk’s office. Both people must be eighteen years of age or older. If one or both are under age, you need to follow a different set of requirements. Pay for the license, which is usually under $100. Then you can find someone to marry you.

The person that can marry same sex couples are some clergy members, a magistrate, mayor, commissioner of civil marriages, judges and even a friend if they are deputized through the “Deputy Commissioner for a Day” program. How awesome is that? You can be legally married by a friend to make the wedding even more special than it already will be.

Now you know a little more about getting married in California, so what are you waiting for. Same sex marriages will be a reality for many.

Principle David Davis Outs A Student To Her Parents

Once a principle of a high school until the school system was sued for his actions, David Davis was against gays and anything remotely resembling promoting gay awareness. A junior of this high school was gay, but her parents did not know her sexual orientation. Davis, who found out she was gay, outed her to her parents after asking her if her parents knew about her. Davis then went so far as to ask the student body questions that were found to be against their constitutional rights.

He sat the students down and asked each one what their sexual orientation was and held a assembly on morality. Any students that were participating in the Gay Pride movement were suspended from school. The judge awarded legal fees to the plaintiffs in the amount of $325,000 and only $1 to the plaintiff, Jane. This story was very involved and had more twists as it unraveled. He had this poor girl in tears running from his office, after saying he was going to call her parents and she could not be gay. This was said in so many words.

A principle should be open minded no matter what his or her beliefs are. They are in an authority figure that has no business asking students such questions or even outing students to anyone. Now that he has labeled Jane in school and with her family, he has chosen her life for her. Her friends knew and accepted her, but it only took one person to destroy her mentally with his homophobic ways of thinking.

All The Violence Against Gays And Gay Supporters Has To Stop

The first thing you learn about when you are a kid is not to make fun of people. As you grow up, you should be taught not to kill. I guess with all the hate crimes and killings that are geared toward the gay community, one has to wonder if the parents of these people every taught them not to make fun of people or not to kill. Some might say that this is an unfair assumption, but for kids this is a fair thought. Now, for older people that are killing, one has to wonder why, what changed?

The latest shooting at Knoxville Church in Tennessee, makes a person wonder. They say this man was unemployed and just had issues. I was unemployed and never thought about killing anyone because they wanted to accept something I did not agree with. Hell, everybody does things I do not like, but I do not go out and kill anybody because of it. I guess the problem lies with society. Why does society have to turn people into killing machines by continually denouncing the gay community?

If the people that are so high on the band wagon against gays would think about what they are doing and stop, we might be able to live in a world with less death and discrimination. I think John McCain, who wants to be a President is the top leader of the group. It is quite clear that McCain does not like gay people and openly said he is against gay adoption. Is this the type of person that should be running the country?

We need someone that is going to say, “Stop the killings and discrimination and get on with your own life. Do not worry about anyone else’s sexual orientation, it does not affect you.” These people are using their beliefs as a way to take control. They are failing miserably. They say they do not know what to say to their kids about same sex couples. Believe me people, your kids know more than you do. They talk, they hear things and they listen.

Your kids are smarter than you are, but you try to control how they think. You want them to discriminate the way you do. Wake up and shut up. The violence has to stop. You are not only encouraging people to kill gays, you are encouraging them to kill people that are heterosexual just like you, but they openly accept people for who they are and not what you think.

All the groups against gays are the ones that are the blame for all the innocent deaths. All the people killed and critically injured in the Knoxville, Tennessee church shootings were heterosexual and no one but himself or herself knew how they felt or what they thought. Who knows, maybe they did not agree, but it was their church. Just because a church does something does not mean the entire congregation agrees.

I believe so strongly in this article that I am asking you to use the “Add This” button right below this article and “stumble or digg” this so that everyone can find it. I think this is an important issue that everyone has to read and really think about before it is to late.

One of the members posted this to a blog that can be seen by millions. Understanding Your Sexuality And A Free Country

Everyone at some point in their lives will start to understand their sexuality. It may happen when they are fourteen or it may happen when they are twenty-four. It may even happen when they are forty. The only thing that matters is that the person knows who they are and what they want in life. Whether that person is gay, lesbian, bi-sexual, transgender or heterosexual does not matter to anyone else except one person. The person themselves is the only one that needs to who they are and what they want.

There is no one anywhere that has the right to tell a person who they have to be or who they cannot be. Everyone has his or her own lives that are of no concern to anyone else. Could you imagine if being gay was the acceptable way of life and being heterosexual was not the norm? If the tables were turned, how would heterosexual couples feel being told that they could not marry or live with dignity? Before judging anyone, one has to think about what they are saying or doing. They have to think about how it would affect them if the same thing were happening to them.

No one has a choice how they are born or what their sex will be. They do not even know what their sexuality will be. All someone knows is they were born and now have life. As they grow and learn in school, they are taught about equality and the constitution. What they do not learn in school is that you have to live the way other people see fit or you will not have equality and constitutional rights. However, you will be expected to pay taxes and abide by the law even if you are not treated fairly.

How is that for a free country?

The Debate About Promiscuity

Promiscuity is what gay people are all about, is a common defense for people when defending why they are against same sex relationships. If you would listen to someone describe this way of thinking, you would see that they have neglected to include any promiscuity by heterosexual people.

If I had to compare any gay people I know and heterosexual people I know, I would have to say that the heterosexual people are more promiscuous than gay people are. Gay people do not go out looking for a one-night stand. Heterosexual men are the ones that are out for a one-night stand. Heterosexual women can be the same, but it is mostly the men. A gay person goes out to have fun with friends and is usually with someone or just looking to meet people.

If you have never talked to or been with a gay person, you cannot judge. Labeling is something that most people are famous for doing. If you do not like the opposite sex, you are gay. If you prefer the same sex, you are gay. If you prefer the opposite sex, then you are okay. If not, you are not accepted. Why?

Everyone is a human being that deserves to be called a person and not labeled. Promiscuity is not an issue with gay people as much as it is an issue with heterosexual men and some women. To say this is just another reason to ban gay marriages is wrong. Heterosexual people who lead promiscuous lives can settle down and marry. They are not labeled as promiscuous. Gay people who have relationships that end are labeled promiscuous.

I know one man who has had over forty relationships, but he has had over two hundred sexual encounters with women outside of as relationship. I know so many gay people who have had a few relationships, but have had no sexual encounters outside of a relationship.

Now who is the promiscuous of the two?

Barack Obama Said He Is Proud To Join The LGBT Brothers And Sisters

Barack Obama has joined the LGBT in celebrating all the families, lives, accomplishments of all of the gay, lesbian, bi-sexual, and transgender people during the Pride season. Obama said these words, “Too often, the issue of LGBT rights is exploited by those seeking to divide us. But at core, this issue is about who we are as Americans. It is time to live up to our founding promise of equality by treating all our citizens with dignity and respect.”

It sounds like Obama is ready to eliminate all the barriers that divide the gays and heterosexuals. It is about time we have a President in office that does not discriminate against people who they are supposed to stand up for after being elected. The President is supposed to look out for everyone’s best interest. That means putting a stop to discrimination and war as well as everything else that is wrong with this country.

It is time for a change in the government and Barack Obama may be the change that is needed. If he stops all the bullying of heterosexual people of gay people and allows gay and lesbian couples to have equality, the country may once again become a friendly place to live. If he keeps talking and doing what he is doing and saying now, he will succeed in making life enjoyable with freedoms that we were meant to have in the first place.

He can probably bring home our soldier from war to be with their families. That would be a welcome change as well. .

Brandon McInerney Will Be Tried As An Adult

It was a sad day in February when Lawrence King was shot and killed by his schoolmate Brandon McInerney, but another sad day came yesterday when Brandon was charged as an adult for the murder. Brandon is 14 years old. Many groups ask that Brandon be tried as a juvenile and not as an adult. I for one, agree with the groups including the Gay Straight Alliance Network that Brandon be charged as a juvenile. Although the crime is horrendous, he is only 14 years old. He is a child that needs help, not a life behind bars.

Maybe if someone had taken the time to help this kid, things would have ended differently. Many stories are going around about the type of kid Brandon was and how he was from a dysfunctional home. Why didn’t anyone step up to the plate to help this kid before this tragedy happened? Maybe if the schools or society would have intervened, two lives would have been saved.

The sad part about the entire situation is that some people have made Larry King out to be a gay that stalked Brandon, wore make up and dressed strangely. Then they made Brandon out to be a troubled kid that was in trouble all the time. Two kids that everyone seemed to have concerns about and no one said a word. That is the real tragedy. All these people who should have helped turned their backs and pretended that nothing was wrong.

Some people blame Brandon, some blame Larry, but the ones that should be blamed are people that preach about gay, lesbian, bi-sexual, transgender discrimination. The people that are responsible for this tragedy are the ones that preach about Gods way. They are the ones that say being gay is wrong, they are ones that try to ban groups in schools to helps kids, they are the ones that need to examine their way of thinking.

Hate crimes against the gay community are going to continue until these people shut up, live their own lives, and stop worrying about how Mr. Jones next door has a man sleep over every other night or Janet down the street was seen kissing a woman last night at a bar. Maybe it time for them to look in their own closets.

GSA Day Of Silence Helps You Realize How Much Discrimination There Is

Sheboygan North High School had a Day of Silence back in April of 2006. One of the students participating in the Day of Silence learned something he would not have learned otherwise. He learned that he could not defend himself against criticism and discrimination from other students that do not understand what the Gay Straight Alliance is doing. He said it was hard to hear the words and not be able to say anything. He had a first hand feel of how it feels to be ousted and harassed by your peers.

Although many had believed the Gay Straight Alliance was to promote sex, it is not. It is a way for students to rid their schools and community of discrimination and hatred toward the gay, lesbian, bi-sexual and transgender population.

Another student had commented that a few students that had come out, lost friendships because of their sexual orientation. The group is there for everyone. It is not a group of gay people sitting around trying to make other people gay as many people think. It is a support group if you must think something. It is a group of kids that want their schools to be safe and free of discrimination against everyone.

If every school would have a Gay Straight Alliance in their schools, it could make schools safer and more enjoyable for all. If your school does not have a GSA group, you can do your homework and submit information to a teacher or counselor that might be interested in becoming the advisor to the group, your school could do its part to protect and educate all students and the community as well.

You can find out more information about the Gay Straight Alliance at Gay Straight Alliance Network
