Is It Possible For Gays To Be Christian

This question is one that has been asked many times, but no one has ever had the right answer. The answer is yes, gay people can be Christians. Ones sexual preference does not make one any less of a person or a Christian. Being gay does not mean the person does not believe in God. Many people will ask, “How can you say that and believe that?”

The answer is simple. God does not judge his children. He does not discriminate. The bible says that gluttony is a sin. This would mean that every overweight person in the world could not be a Christian. If you look around you as you read this, pick out three people and think about each one.

The first person I see is an overweight construction worker. If we rely on the bible to guide us, he is a sinner. He is overweight. I could never like him.

The next person I see is a single mom walking her baby. She is not married and had a child out of wedlock. She is a sinner. I don’t like her.

The next sight I see is a man walking into the neighbor’s house. Since this happens every day after her husband leaves and he only stays for an hour or so, he could be having an affair. They are both sinners. I don’t like them.

Then I have myself, I have just judged three people because of what the bible says. I have committed a sin because I am discriminating against these people because of the way they live their lives.

Is it possible for gays to be Christians? Yes. We are all Christians if we believe in God. That is all there is to say. Your sexual preference or lack of good judgment (the horny neighbor, overweight person and single mom) does not mean you are not a Christian. Everyone is a Christian if he or she believes.

Wonderful article! We are all sinners in need of grace, and we need to treat each other gently.

Max Lucado once said, “It is easier to label than to love”. We get so caught up in judging everyone else that we often forget that those same people are judging us as well.

The only thing you will be judged upon when you stand before Christ was whether or not you believed on Him and if you lived a life that was pleasing to Him. I truly don’t think He’s going to ask what your sexual orientation was any more than he’s going to ask me how many times I got drunk.

If there’s nothing you could do that makes you good enough to get into heaven, then it stands to reason there’s nothing you can do bad enough to get to kicked out.

Because it’s all about the Grace. Grace we didn’t earn and don’t deserve.

However, grace isn’t a license to sin or to live however you want. We should all strive for holiness. And the first step toward holiness is to love your neighbor as yourself.

    God bless you.

Thank you. I think that everyone should think about excepting people for who they are and let the man do the judging.

You have a great way with words and expression. Thank you.

Great post. If gays and lesbians weren’t God’s children then it would be sinful for me to read this blog. I think there are many things we don’t know about God, geez, that is why He is God. He has His own time for things and reasons for things and we can’t know or say.

I’ll correct your one point and say that God does judge His children. As such I feel that it is more likely that He would have issue with Christians who look at what they perceive as the sins of others than looking at their own sins. There is a great verse in the bible about not worrying about the speck in another person’s eye when you have a boulder in your own…something like that depending on what version you read.

    Great post again Pam!

Excellent post. One of the reasons I’ve always stayed away from Christianity (as a religion, not necessarily the teachings of Christ) has been the hypocrisy that seems to have become the norm. Christ was not judgemental or exclusionary and so to really follow his example means to do the same.
