Principle David Davis Outs A Student To Her Parents

Once a principle of a high school until the school system was sued for his actions, David Davis was against gays and anything remotely resembling promoting gay awareness. A junior of this high school was gay, but her parents did not know her sexual orientation. Davis, who found out she was gay, outed her to her parents after asking her if her parents knew about her. Davis then went so far as to ask the student body questions that were found to be against their constitutional rights.

He sat the students down and asked each one what their sexual orientation was and held a assembly on morality. Any students that were participating in the Gay Pride movement were suspended from school. The judge awarded legal fees to the plaintiffs in the amount of $325,000 and only $1 to the plaintiff, Jane. This story was very involved and had more twists as it unraveled. He had this poor girl in tears running from his office, after saying he was going to call her parents and she could not be gay. This was said in so many words.

A principle should be open minded no matter what his or her beliefs are. They are in an authority figure that has no business asking students such questions or even outing students to anyone. Now that he has labeled Jane in school and with her family, he has chosen her life for her. Her friends knew and accepted her, but it only took one person to destroy her mentally with his homophobic ways of thinking.

That’s insane. How does a guy like that get to become a principal in the first place?
