There is so much controversy about same sex marriages, but look at the reasons why same sex marriage should be legalized and you decide what the difference is between a heterosexual couple and a same sex couple.

1. Same sex marriage is not going to affect heterosexual couples in any way.

2. Children of a same sex couple need to have a family life that is recognized by everyone.

3. Same sex couples are in love just as much as a heterosexual couple.

4. What they do in their own homes will not be seen by anyone who does not wish to see them together.

5. Same sex marriages will allow partners to have insurance.

6. Same sex marriages will allow the couple to file taxes as a married couple.

7. The divorce rate will more than likely be lower.

8. It will pave the way for laws to enforce hate crimes against gay couples.

9. The gay couple will be able to give more to the community as a family.

10. Gay couples will finally have freedom of choice.

Parent’s teach children not to be judgmental of others, so why is it when you tell your parents that you are gay, they get upset and ban your partner from family events and their home.

This is a common occurrence that is seen every day. Parents have a hard time not being judgmental of your partner. Parents want to know why this happened to you. They want to know why you choose to live like this.

Parents strike out at the person you choose to be with because they do not want to believe that you, their child is gay. They think that it is easier to blame this person for “changing” you rather than accept you for the person you are.

Being gay is not a choice per say. You have a choice to tell people you are gay, but being gay is not bought on because someone made you change. This person you want to be with just allowed you to express yourself in a way you felt you could not before.

Parents should not say to their children, “I love you” and then in the same sentence cry and slam the partner that you have chosen. Parents should love unconditionally.

If your parent enjoyed the company of your now admitted partner before, but now wants nothing to do with this person because he or she is gay and your same sex partner, then they are judgmental and not practicing what they taught you.

They are allowing the word, “gay” to overwhelm their good senses.
